Dog Tick Bite Scab. After they climb onto a host, ticks usually crawl toward the warmest, moistest area they can find. This may not be cause for concern.
These may be a harmless skin tag or scab, but sometimes they can indicate a tick bite. If you notice scabs on your dog's skin, inspect them for ticks. Scabbing in the days following removal of a tick is completely normal for many of the same reasons as those already mentioned above.
